FIBER OPTIC CLEAVER: In order to obtain good fiber optic termination and splices, especially when using fast connectors and mechanical splices, a cleaving process, in which an optical fiber is “cut” or precisely broken, is extremely important to be performed. In the process, optical fibers are usually cut by scoring or scratching the surface and applying stress so the glass breaks in a smooth manner along the stress lines created by the scratch. To achieve optimum cleaving results, a tool called fiber optic cleaver is needed. Fiber cleaver is designed to provide a precise cleave and prepare a fiber to be fusion spliced for 250 µm and 900 µm coated optical fiber.
