SYNOPSIS

UJAMAA is a TV TALK PROGRAM where regular citizens will deliberate on topical issues (social, economic and political) affecting our everyday life. The people will prescribe solutions to these issues, reflecting the views of the ordinary members of the society vis-à-vis their expectations from the leaders and the lead.
However, it will not be the usual debates, for and against; neither will it be the downright subjective, lopsided blame games and criticisms. Instead, each topic will have subdivisions and each speaker takes on a subdivision. The public/viewers vote through text message to support a subdivision based on the submissions of the individual speakers. Example: WHAT IS WRONG WITH NIGERIA? A speaker harps on the role of politicians in the problems besetting the nation, another on the role of electorates, the other on the role of Civil Servants, the other on the role of Business People, and another on the effect of 1914 Amalgamation. Each of the five speakers makes their submissions including the problems and solutions. Say: Politicians are the problems of Nigeria, because they are miss-leaders. They not only mislead but also misinform the hapless citizens. — etc. OR say: Business people are the problems of Nigeria. They are undertakers working to bury the economy. That is the reason they flood the country with fake and substandard goods. — etc. The tallied votes from the public/viewers tell us the speaker with the best submission vis-à-vis problems and solutions.
The program will be chaired by a presenter who moderates the discussion. The program will be streamed through social media(Youtube, Instagram, facebook, twitter, etc.) to allow for more votes. The program is aimed at promoting unity of Nigeria and participatory democracy in the true sense of it, as people will have things to talk about and issues to act upon.
