PROGRAM AIMS/GOALS (Unique Selling Points)

UJAMAA will emphasise the issues that unite the nation, Nigeria. It will inform as well as empower the people. The program will ensure the realization of the vision to create a common platform for Nigerian peoples and their grass-roots organizations to be more involved in discussions and decision-makings on the problems and challenges facing the country.
•The regular citizens and the not well-educated (majority of the population) are never given opportunity to air their views on issues affecting their every day life. The elites and pseudo-intellectuals, most times speaking from their subjective positions, prescribe solutions to all our problems. The program will create avenues for the regular citizens to contribute and prescribe solutions to topical issues, taking cognizance of the yearnings and aspirations of the masses of our people.
•The program will x-ray every facet of the topic being discussed, highlighting the roles of various critical sections and sectors. Take our example as contained in the synopsis—WHAT IS WRONG WITH NIGERIA? Generally, all five sectors/factors are responsible for Nigeria problems; but we want speakers to highlight the contributions of each sector/factor as well as proffering solutions. The text message votes from the public/viewers tell us the speaker with outstanding submissions vis-à-vis the problems and solutions.
•In a September 2010 Time magazine article, Joe Klein questioned whether regular citizens were capable of making sound decisions on complex and technical issues. James S. Fishkin responded: “The public is very smart if you give it a chance. If people think their voice actually matters, they’ll do the hard work, really study their briefing books, ask the experts smart questions and then make tough decisions. When they hear the experts disagreeing, they’re forced to think for themselves. About 70% change their minds in the process.“
•The program will be the mirror of the society, exposing the good, the bad and ugly in all of us.
•Most importantly, it will serve as barometer for the leaders and policy makers to gauge the pulse of the society. So, the program will appeal to the leaders and the lead.
