NIGERIANS ABHOR LINUX UBUNTU

UBUNTU
NIGERIANS ABHOR LINUX UBUNTU
Nigeria is a country of over 200million people with about 250tribes speaking different languages. All the tribes are as superior as they are inferior to one another. They don’t trust anybody, so they abhor Linux Ubuntu.
The Nigerian identity is multicultural. Nigerians have two compatible national identities: they are Hausa, Fulani, Igbo, Tiv, Bini, etc. in terms of their cultural identity and Nigerian in terms of their political identity. When they think of their national identity, they most commonly think of themselves first as Hausa, Fulani, Igbo, Yoruba, and so forth. At the same time, there is rarely any doubt about their being Nigerian. This is so even though politicians, sometimes, in the heat of political controversy, demand that Nigeria be broken up or be reconstituted as a confederation of its various ethnic nationalities. However, when faced with the decision to do so – as demonstrated by the civil war – many more Nigerians opt to keep it together as one unit, thus indicating a desire for the Nigerian identity.
In Nigerian politics no word or phrase has been so abused as the word “marginalisation,” The phrase of “we are marginalised” began creeping in after the annulment of the June 12, 1993 election, won by MKO Abiola, a Yoruba man. But no sooner than President Obasanjo, another Yoruba man taken the mantle of leadership did the remaining two major ethnic groups (Hausa-Fulani and the Igbo) began to shout “blue murder” at perceived marginalisation of their ethnic group in the share of the national cake- Later, the Niger delta rebels took to militancy and armed struggle to protest their own.
Who is really marginalising who? NONE! We are all afraid of our shadows. We lack “Ubuntu”, yet many of our computers use the operating system Linux Ubuntu. Linux operating systems are open source, which means that anybody can do what they want with them – for free. It’s a concept of sharing that may be uncommon in the secretive world of computer software, but is inspired by the philosophy of ubuntu. Ubuntu means “I am, because you are”. UBUNTU is just part of the Zulu phrase “Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu”, which literally means that a person is a person through other people. Ubuntu has its roots in humanist African philosophy, where the idea of community is one of the building blocks of society. Ubuntu is that nebulous concept of common humanity, oneness: humanity, you and me both. “You and me, we’re the same, really.” If only Nigerians can understand this.
This is season of unending lawlessness in Nigeria. Or how else can one describe a situation in which everyone appears to have virtually lost his or her sense of reasoning and feels to be above the laws of the land? The number of citizens flouting the laws of the country is steadily increasing. Many, irrespective of political, religious or ethnic affiliations, are flagrantly disobeying rules and regulations meant to guide the actions of the rich and the poor, in order to ensure peace, unity and stability in a sane and civilised society.

Nigerian state suffers in virtually all perspective; ranging from service she should render to her citizens, she fails because she is incapacitated; from the perspective of the ethnic nationalist who benefits, his loyalty is to his ethnicity and not to the Nigerian state; from the perspective of the ethnic-nationalist who is not gaining immediately; there are two possible attitudes; to claim to be a Nigerian nationalist and accuse others of ethnicism; or to accuse Nigeria of being a failed state and to call for dissolution of the Nigerian state.

Ethnic groups and the state have mutual need of each other even as they compete for the individual’s loyalty. Obviously, Nigeria would not be what it is without its numerous ethnic groups and conversely, the groups would not be what they are today without the Nigerian state.

In these Perilous times, patriots are required to defend the sovereignty and corporate existence of Nigeria. You don’t need to be on the fence: Take up arms as a tribal warlord to destroy Nigeria or take up arms as a patriot to defend Nigeria. At UJAMAA, we believe in UBUNTU philosophy: “I am, because you are”; translated further – “You and me, we’re the same, really.” We are patriots defending Nigeria and automatically humanity. WE INVITE YOU TO JOIN US. Our strategy is to inform, educate and enlighten the hapless citizens of this country.
